Something We All Need in Tough Times

Something We All Need in Tough Times
by Jane Powell
“Humor is a necessary ingredient in life.”
Humor is not just about telling, listening and laughing at jokes, although they too have their time and place. It’s about perceiving and chuckling at the absurdities of everyday life.
These absurdities can range from everyday hassles to real heartaches and even hard times. Within each experience, there’s something to laugh about.
Next time you find yourself getting uptight, relax for minute and look for this lighter side. There is always humor embedded in life experiences. When you recognize it, it becomes so much easier to put life’s difficult times in perspective.

The easiest thing to do when the alarm clock rings would be to roll over and go back to sleep. Yet if you made that choice every day you would never get anything accomplished.
The easiest thing to do when troubles come your way would be to look for someone else to blame. Yet even if you find who is to blame, that's not going to remedy the situation.
The easiest thing to do when faced with a challenge would be to run away and hide. Yet when you do that, the challenge becomes even more difficult the next time you encounter it, and eventually you'll be unable to avoid it.
Taking the easy way out is never really easy, not in the long run. Rather than seeking the easiest choice, seek the choice that will fill your life and your world with the most value.
Rather than avoiding effort, welcome that effort and the progress it will bring. Instead of being enticed by the empty promises of an easy answer, enjoy the rich rewards of holding out for the best answer.
When you have the choice, forget what is easiest and go with what is truly best.

There is no outside force holding you back. You are holding you back and you are blaming it on someone or something else.
The way you are able to continue holding yourself back is by maintaining the illusion that you're a victim. Once you release that illusion, you will naturally and easily move forward.
In fact, it is easier to fulfill your best possibilities than it is to avoid them. So let go of the blame and watch the limitations drop away.
Certainly there will always be challenges, and yet it is not the challenges that hold you back. For each challenge provides you with a pathway through which you can move toward fulfillment.
It is your very nature to accomplish. Lovingly accept your destiny, and allow that accomplishment to be manifest through you.
Set yourself free to follow your purpose. Set yourself free to truly live.
Ralph Marston
